A Complete Music Education

The Music Room's unique and comprehensive program offers students of all ages a complete music education. Founded and directed by Robin Kaplan, the program is based on a combination of a 45-minute weekly private lesson and group musicianship classes that cover music theory, ear training, music history, keyboard harmony, and solfège.

The private instrument or voice lesson focuses on technique and skills related to their particular instrument, while the musicianship group class provides students with a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of music theory, in a setting where they learn and integrate musicianship skills in a fun and engaging way. The program is designed so that students not only improve in their chosen instrument, but also gain the knowledge to better understand and enjoy all aspects of music.

Students may choose from a variety of instruments including piano lessons, guitar lessons, saxophone lessons, flute lessons, trombone lessons, clarinet lessons, trumpet lessons, drum lessons, harp lessons and/or voice lessons.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in musical ensembles throughout the year.

Tuition

Tuition is for the school year, August 17, 2026 - May 31, 2027 and the summer session, June 7 - July 30, 2027.

Tuition includes one 45-minute lesson per week, group musicianship classes, materials and books, recital rehearsals and audition preparation, and administrative costs.

1-hour lessons are available upon request.

Payments can be made by cash, check, or Venmo (@Robin-Kaplan-3).

Recitals

Students will have the opportunity to perform throughout the year in concerts that are open to the public.

*** Rehearsals will be scheduled on the weekends prior to the concert dates.

The recital schedule is as follows:

  1. December 19, 2026 - Winter Holiday Concert, Williams Hall, 4:00 PM.
  2. February 28, 2027 - Spring Classical Concert and Soirée, The Studios of Key West, 5:00 PM - featuring the high school students.
  3. May 23, 2027 - Kids Helping Kids Benefit Concert, Key West Theater, 4:00 PM - raising funds to support children in the local community.

The Certificate Program inspires excellence through individual assessments and allows students to celebrate accomplishment with others across the country.
